About

In March 2024, independent author R. E. Bellesmith approached me to join his team as the book designer for his upcoming fantasy novel. I was tasked with creating a cohesive design that would encompass the cover, featuring a stunning commissioned illustration by Sabrina Claman, as well as the typesetting for both paperback and eBook formats.

This project was an exciting opportunity to blend creativity and collaboration. I customized the cover’s typeface to perfectly complement the illustration's enchanting aesthetic and worked closely with the author to infuse the book's interior with a touch of magic. From chapter heading illustrations to dynamic section dividers, every detail was crafted to enhance the reading experience.

The result is a polished and harmonious design that seamlessly connects the cover's allure to the interior pages, across both print and digital formats. This was a perfect project to showcase my passion for creating immersive, cohesive book designs that bring stories to life.

Client Testimonial

"I had the absolute pleasure of getting to work with Wendy Mach of White Stone Pages to publish my fantasy novel 'The Wilderlands.' Over the course of her work laying out the cover and designing the interior, Wendy was always responsive, thoughtful, and delivered fantastic work.

The process of working with Wendy on this book began mid-March and effectively ran until the start of October. At nearly every point during that 8 month process, I knew where Wendy was in the process and knew I could reach out to her and receive a response in a day or two. If for some reason I couldn't immediately reach her, I was aware of why well in advance.

One top of that, Wendy's work on the book speaks for itself. As I had already commissioned the cover art before hand, she worked within the considerations of that work to make an exterior that displayed the beautiful image the artist had created while still having the necessary material on it. In terms of the interior, Wendy was not only game to attempt a few of my less conventional requests, but also weighed in with her own good advice and creative thoughts, ultimately making the interior just as beautiful as the outside.

Finally, as I made final tweaks in the last two months of working on the book, Wendy was fantastically indulgent of the final textual tweaks the book required because of last minute edits on my end.

I would recommend White Stone Pages without hesitation to anyone wanting a considerate designer to layout both the exterior and interior of their book and I hope to work with Wendy again for future projects."
